The programming language Ada, developed and funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, was named in his honor. His character has inspired a 1997 film, Conceiving Ada, directed by Lynn Hershman Leeson, and is present in the 1990 steampunk novel The Difference Engine by Bruce Sterling and William Gibson.
